So far....

Source

So far in Thailand I have managed to:

- have my bank card eaten by a machine
- lock myself out of my bedroom (weird locking on every door)
- lock us out of the flat ( again weird locking, another teacher opened the door with a butchers knife)
- smash the front of another teachers moped
- fall off a moped
- tread on lots of staples in one of the classrooms

I didn't think I was that clumsy.... I guess I am

Three great designers

I have been lucky enough to work with and become great friends with these three designers. Gail of seventyseventyone, Clare of Mootsink and Helen of treesandwhatnot. After moving away I have missed them all and it's great to keep in touch with them through tweets and blogs.

Gail is the designer behind the beautiful products of seventyseventyone design. I am the proud owner of a pink loopy ring :). I have loved seeing all her new products. You can find her work all over the Internet for sale. She is a great business woman. Head over to her new snazzy website where she is offering 20% discount.

Clare creates beautiful illustrations, she has such a talent. I miss all my long chats with her. Please check out her great website and blog here and here

Helen is the designer behind this beautiful pieces. Her jewellery looks so delicate and I love the colours and textures. Follow her blog here
She has great sense of style and I love reading her blog posts. Be sure to keep a look out for her website :)

I miss all these three ladies. Enjoy their work :)

What I woke up to this morning.....

As we are living in the remote countryside at the moment, coming to the city is a treat for us. As we have no transport of our own we normally rely on lifts to the nearest town. So for now we are relaxing for a few days in the nearest city. Mostly scoffing our faces with treats..... :)

Living in the beautiful countryside

For the past nine months or so my boyfriend and I have been living in a boarding school in a remote part of the north of Thailand. It has been a real eye opener for both of us and a really different experience from what we are used to in England. The school has about 800 students, all are from poor backgrounds. The school is one of many that were set up to help under privileged children.
It has been fantastic to help them with their education. Living in the school grounds also means we are involved with lots of different activities and see them all the time.
I must admit I was very apprehensive when we first arrived as we had no idea how remote it was. I don't think I would have been able to do it by myself and it has been great having my boyfriend here as well.

Below are a few photos of the view from our balcony. Sometimes I love to stand out there in the evenings ( mostly because it is much cooler than the flat ).

I want to take more photos of the school to show everyone and will make it one of my tasks this week.

Bye for now!

One year....

I can't believe it but yes it has already been a year since we arrived in Thailand. This time last year we were in Bangkok, adjusting to the heat ( I think we spent our time going from one air con building to another. Now a year on it is still hot but I think I am learning to cope. I suppose I have to when I teach a class full of students with only one fan in the room. The school we are teaching at is in the mountains in the North. The surroundings are beautiful, the weather a little cooler and great sunsets.
We have both had a fantastic year so far and really can't believe it has been one whole year already. We hope to carry on teaching in the country and move to Bangkok in October.
Above is one of many beautiful sunsets over the school playing field :)

Great inspiration

Like many others I have become slightly obsessed with Pinterest, mostly drooling over the food pictures. There are some great new designers to discover on there and below are some of my new favourites.

Trying out blog press

So I am still getting used to my IPad. My old computer decided it had, had enough about a month ago. I am still getting used to touch typing and all the apps but I am having fun. I am writing this from the blogpress app so just wanted to check that it is working ok. The blogger site for some reason is not IPad friendly and doesn't let you write new posts or add pictures.

I hope to get back into blogging again, my last post was so long ago. So for now I thought I would leave you with two pics, me playing around with my new hipstamatic camera app :)
